Kuala Lumpur 3 Day Itinerary: What to Do & Eat (With Public Transport)

I was not very keen on visiting Kuala Lumpur — or KL — the capital city of Malaysia. The idea of high rise skyscrapers and a selfie with the Petronas Twin Towers didn’t cut it for me. I’m more of a nature girly anyway! But since I was flying in, I decided to curate a Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary for myself, before my onward journey. And I’m so glad I did!

Kuala Lumpur actually packs a punch for all kinds of visitors. Located on the central west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, not only is KL a major entry port into Southeast Asia, but it is also a popular hub for travellers, offering an eclectic mix of the old and the new.  If you are planning a Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary, think not just of towering skyscrapers and luxe shopping malls, but also a slow old town, forested patches, a bustling food scene, and more.

Because Kuala Lumpur — and Malaysia at large — is home to a diverse group of Malay, Indian, and Chinese communities, the food in KL is just as varied and delectable as you can imagine. Lavish rooftop restaurants and bars to local kopitiams (coffee shops) and hawker centres — it doesn’t matter where you eat, the food in KL will almost always be spectacular. To top it all off, the city is blessed with an excellent public transportation system, with efficient metro systems like the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) and LRT (Light Rail Transit). We’ll get into this in detail further in this Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary

Wondering what to do in Kuala Lumpur? Plan your next trip to the Malaysian capital with this Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary travel guide mixing the best of nature, culture, cuisine, shopping, and more, accompanied with all the details you need!

Day 1 of Kuala Lumpur 3 Day Itinerary

Morning Cycling Tour of Petaling Street + Breakfast at Chinatown

Kick off your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary with a morning cycling tour of Chinatown, centred around Petaling Street. It is one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur. This historic 19th-century neighbourhood is known for its traditional and colonial architecture, street food stalls, and narrow lanes spilling with temples, cafes, and craft workshops. In the early hours of the morning, the streets are cool and quiet, as residents set up their stalls and shophouses for the day.

Breakfast cycle run FTW!

This Kuala Lumpur bicycle tour includes some major highlights, including Chinatown!

En route, check out some important cultural landmarks like Chan See Shu Yuen Temple — one of Malaysia’s oldest and largest Buddhist temples, followed by a stop at Guan Di Temple and Sri Mahamariamman Temple. You can join a guided cycling tour through Chinatown or rent a bicycle and explore on your own.

The best breakfast I had in Malaysia!

After the ride, treat yourself to a traditional Chinese breakfast on your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary at one of the kopitiams. My favourite breakfast items here include congee (savoury rice porridge), ma kiok (sweet, fried dough ball), chee cheong fun (steamed rice noodle rolls) and a customary cup of coffee.

Nearest metro station: Pasar Seni Station on the Kajang MRT Line and Kelana Jaya LRT Line.

Central Market and Kasturi Walk

From Petaling Street in Chinatown, your next stop on this Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary is a short stroll over to Central Market, also known as Pasar Seni. The indoor market is housed in a striking late 19th-century Art Deco building. It is mainly known for its local crafts and souvenirs like handmade batik textiles, wood carvings, silver jewellery, wau (Malay kites), and more. It’s a great spot in the city to shop for authentic souvenirs beyond the ubiquitous fridge magnet. To escape the crowds, head upstairs, where you’ll find a quiet art gallery and a couple of boutique stores.

The grand entrance to Kasturi Walk

Also, add a leisurely stroll at Kasturi Walk to your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary. It is located right outside Central Market’s main entrance and is noted for its eye-catching wau-style roof.  Kasturi Walk is a colourful open-air street lined with food stalls, snack carts, and budget-friendly souvenir shops, and often hosts street performances and musicians. Don’t forget to grab a mango + dragonfruit juice. It became my Kuala Lumpur obsession!

Opening hours: Daily, from 10 am to 9:30 pm

Nearest metro station: Pasar Seni Station on the Kajang MRT Line and Kelana Jaya LRT Line.

Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque and River of Life View Point

A short 10-minute walk from Central Market brings you to Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur. You should definitely add it to your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary because it lies at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers, which marks the site of the city’s birthplace.

kuala lumpur 3 day itinerary sultan abdul samad mosque
Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque at the confluence

Featuring three onion-shaped domes, two minarets, and flecked with pink and white bandings, the mosque was designed by British architect Arthur Benison. You can enter the mosque outside of prayer hours and enjoy a moment of peace in its garden. Note that you must dress modestly, covering your shoulders and knees (robes and headscarves are available for rent).

Next to the mosque is River of Life, a waterfront area by the confluence that was renovated in 2011 in an attempt to reduce water pollution, improve infrastructure, and beautify almost 11 km of riverfront. There’s a promenade that you can walk along, sprinkled with fountains, and a light show every evening that turns the space into a “Blue Pool”.

Nearest metro station: Masjid Jamek LRT Station is served by Kelana Jaya, Sri Petaling, and Ampang Lines.

River of Life Heritage Trails

If you have time on your 3 day Kuala Lumpur itinerary, you can explore the River of Life Heritage Trails, which are a series of themed walking and cycling routes along the Kuala Lumpur riverfront. Three trails take you through the city’s historic neighbourhoods and landmarks:

kuala lumpur 3 day itinerary heritage walk
Take your pick!

Chinatown Trail: The trail covers Petaling Street, Jalan Tun H.S. Lee that runs through the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and the many alleys surrounding it. It introduces you to the city’s Chinese-Malay heritage, as you explore local markets, temples, shophouses, and try out freshly prepared street food.

Cultural Trail: To experience Kuala Lumpur’s diverse communities,  religious landmarks, and rich architectural traditions, head out on this trail connecting the Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque, Sin Sze Si Ya Temple, Cathedral of St. Mary, and the River of Life Viewpoint.

Colonial Trail: The trail takes you from the historic Independence (Merdeka) Square to Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Old KL Railway Station, Royal Selangor Club, and other colonial-era landmarks, showcasing the city’s history under British rule.

Walking the Colonial Walk

The River of Life Heritage Trails are best explored on foot or by bicycle. You can explore on your own or join a guided heritage tour. You can find trail maps and signboards at Central Market and Jamek Mosque.

Nearest metro station: Masjid Jamek LRT Station on the Kelana Jaya, Sri Petaling, and Ampang Lines.

Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Independence Square

Right next to the River of Life Viewpoint are these two iconic landmarks that are deeply tied to Malaysia’s colonial history and freedom struggle. The Sultan Abdul Samad Building dates back to 1897 and once served as a secretariat for the British government. It blends Mughal, Moorish, and Indo-Saracenic architectural styles, featuring a 41-metre-high clock tower, copper domes, and arched colonnades, leaving you in awe of its overall symmetry. The building turns even more majestic at night when it is lit up, definitely an add-on to your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary.

Sultan Abdul Samad Building

You will find Independence Square right in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. Locally known as Dataran Merdeka, the Square marks the place where Malaysia gained independence from British rule and hoisted its own flag on August 31, 1957. At 95 metres, you can check out one of the world’s tallest flagpoles here, and explore nearby sites like Kuala Lumpur City Gallery, St. Mary’s Cathedral, and National Textile Museum. The annual Independence Day parade is hosted here.

Nearest metro station: Masjid Jamek LRT Station on the Kelana Jaya, Sri Petaling, and Ampang Lines.

Lunch at Kwai Chai Hong

Just 1 kilometre from Dataran Merdeka is Kwai Chai Hong in Chinatown, a cul-de-sac alleyway between Lorong Panggung and Petaling Street. Once neglected, the street has been given an artistic makeover, bringing back the golden age of 1960s Chinatown through interactive murals, vintage signs, and red lanterns. Translating to “Little Demon Alley” in Cantonese, Kwai Chai Hong is a fun spot to stop by for lunch after your morning of exploring Kuala Lumpur’s historic centre.

There are some great restaurant options to choose from on this leg of your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary: Concubine KL is a restobar set in an old pre-war shophouse, with bold interiors and fresh fusion food, while Pandan Republic whips up authentic Malay flavours. DaBao does a modern take on the traditional bao, while Bubble Bee Cafe is popular for its healthy food options and relaxed setting. If you want to get a drink, head to Kapitan Haus or Baijiu for creative and specially crafted cocktails.

Don’t forget to scan the QR code beside some of the murals at Kwai Chai Hong, which links to a soundtrack handpicked for each mural.

Nearest metro station: Pasar Seni Station on the Kajang MRT Line and Kelana Jaya LRT Line.

KL Forest Eco Park

With a big walking loop around central Kuala Lumpur’s iconic heritage sites, the next stop on your 3 day Kuala Lumpur itinerary should naturally be a nature respite with a visit to the KL Forest Eco Park, after being surrounded by buildings!

Located next to KL Tower, the park is spread over nine hectares. It is over a hundred years old and is the city’s only remaining tropical rainforest. The main attraction here is the 200-metre aerial bridge that is suspended 21 metres above the ground, offering a unique experience of the forest, flanked by the skyline in the background.

kuala lumpur 3 day itinerary kl forest eco park
A breath of fresh air in the city!

Having been to Malaysian Borneo to get a real taste of the rainforest, the KL Eco Park might pale in comparison. But if you are not going as far as Borneo, this park can be one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur for you. Sheltering more than 200 species of trees, KL Forest Eco Park is also home to animals like macaques, civet cats, bats, monkeys, and several birds.

There are plenty of picnic spots, playgrounds for kids, gazebos, and a herbal garden to keep you busy. They also have a campsite within the park that you can use with a permit. The best way to experience the park is by walking across the Canopy Trail, which ends at the Upside Down House.

Opening hours: Daily, from 8 am to 5:30 pm

Entry fee: Foreigners pay RM 40 ($9.5) for adults, RM 5 ($1) for children between 6 to 12 years, and free entry for children below 6 years.

Nearest metro station: Bukit Nanas Station on the KL Monorail Line. KL Forest Eco Park is an 18-minute walk from here. Alternatively, Pasar Seni MRT Station is 20 minutes away on foot.

Dinner at Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice in Pudu

Wrap up your first day on this Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary with dinner at Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice near the Pudu wet market. Established in 1985 by Madam Heun May Lan, this Michelin Bib Gourmand eatery is one of the best places to eat in Kuala Lumpur. It is known for its claypot chicken rice that is prepared using a traditional charcoal cooking method, following a recipe that has been perfected over decades. They use a ‘2 heat’ method to cook the rice and chicken, using charcoal to heat the claypot from below and an iron lid on top, giving it a unique, aromatic flavour.

The most epic meal of you Kuala Lumpur itinerary!

Besides the iconic claypot chicken rice, you can also try the Claypot Lap Wei (waxed duck and Chinese sausage). To accompany your meal, you can opt for the stewed chicken, homemade seafood tofu, grouper fish head curry, or pig’s stomach in pepper soup.

You should note that because the cooking process is a slow, traditional one, it can take up to 25-30 minutes to prepare your claypot chicken rice, making it an authentic, slow dining experience. We also had to wait for an additional 20 minutes before we were seated. But rest assured, it was so WORTH IT!

Opening hours: 11 am to 8:15 pm (closed on Thursdays)

Nearest metro station: Pudu LRT Station on Ampang and Sri Petaling Lines.

Day 2 of Kuala Lumpur 3 Day Itinerary

KLCC Park

Spread over 50 acres in the heart of the city, this park makes for a refreshing morning — either active or slow — amidst the park’s jogging tracks, walking trails, and open green lawns.

You can also stroll around the massive man-made lake with the Lake Symphony Fountain, which comes alive at night for the light and fountain show (at 8 pm, 9 pm, and 10 pm). You can also do some yoga and warm up for another day of exploring KL, or just enjoy a leisurely breakfast picnic. They also have a playground for children and a shallow public splash pool with fountains to cool off on humid summer mornings. Finally, pay a visit to the futuristic-looking As Syakirin Mosque overlooking KLCC Park.

Opening hours: Open daily from 7 am to 10 pm

Nearest metro stations: Persiaran KLCC MRT Station on Putrajaya Line and Ampang Park LRT on Kelana Jaya Line.

Window Shopping at Suria KLCC and Lunch at Food Court

From KLCC Park, head to Suria KLCC Mall, a massive shopping, dining, and entertainment complex, right in front of the fountain area of the park. With over three hundred stores across big international names, speciality local brands, and concept stores, Suria KLCC is a great destination for an afternoon of (window) shopping, while the air conditioning offers a respite from the mid-day heat on your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary!

For lunch, head to the Signatures Food Court on the second floor, which offers a range of local and international cuisines. Some of the must-try local Malaysian dishes include nasi lemak (coconut rice served with sambal and other toppings), yee mee (flat Cantonese egg wheat noodles), pan mee (handmade noodles in soup), chicken rice, Ipoh noodles, and laksa (thick rice noodles in soup).

Opening hours: Daily from 10 am to 10 pm

Nearest metro stations: Persiaran KLCC MRT Station on Putrajaya Line and Ampang Park LRT on Kelana Jaya Line.

Petronas Twin Towers

After a hearty lunch on your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary, head to the Petronas Twin Towers, one of the top attractions in Kuala Lumpur. Designed by Argentine architect César Pelli, the twin skyscrapers are the world’s tallest twin towers at 452 metres and 88 floors. It is located in the same KLCC area as the attractions you’ll have visited earlier on this day of your Kuala Lumpur itinerary.

The iconic KL Twin Towers

One of the main attractions at the Petronas Twin Towers is the double-decker sky bridge, which joins the 41st and 42nd floors of the two towers, though only the 41st floor is open for visitors. It sits 170 metres above the ground. The other key attraction is Tower 2’s 86th-level observation deck, which offers a bird’s-eye view of the city, permitting 20 minutes to each group of visitors.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 9 pm (closed on Mondays and public holidays)

Entry fees: Foreigners pay RM 98 ($23) for adults and RM 50  ($12) for children and senior citizens.

Nearest metro stations: Persiaran KLCC MRT Station on Putrajaya Line and Ampang Park LRT on Kelana Jaya Line.

Saloma Bridge

Around sunset, take a serene 15-minute walk from the Petronas Twin Towers to Saloma Bridge (also called Saloma Link). It is one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur 3 days itinerary. The 69 metre-long pedestrian and bicycle bridge stretches across the Klang River and is designed as a canopy, inspired by a traditional betel-leaf wedding arrangement called sireh junjung. It memorialises and is named after Saloma, a beloved Malaysian singer and actress from the 1950s.

kuala lumpur 3 day itinerary saloma bridge
Saloma Bridge post sunset

The best time to visit the bridge is in the evening, when it lights up in beautiful colours, casting its vibrant glow onto the river. The lights are usually switched on between 6:30 pm-7 pm till 11 pm, with a change in design every ten minutes. You can take a leisurely stroll across the bridge and take pictures. You also get an uninterrupted view of the Twin Towers from here. The bridge connects the KLCC area with the Kampung Baru neighbourhood, which you can explore as the next stop on this Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary.

Nearest metro stations: Masjid Jamek LRT Station on Kelana Jaya Line and Maharajalela Station on the KL Monorail.

Kampung Baru

Walk across Saloma Bridge and arrive in Kampung Baru for a unique experience of traditional village life in Kuala Lumpur. Translating to “New Village”, Kampang Baru is a small, late 19th-century village, devoid of skyscrapers and markers of urbanisation, lined with wooden stilt houses, tropical greenery, and a quaint bygone charm, allowing you to step back in time and experience a different side to the city.

kuala lumpur 3 day itinerary kampung baru
Old and new!

Walk through the alleys around Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru, appreciate the local architecture, and watch chickens roaming freely as locals go about their daily lives. Hop over to Jalan Raja Muda Musa and Jalan Raja Alang, lined with eateries, serving local delicacies and street food like nasi lemak, satay, apam, and lok-lok. Come here in the evening when the temperatures are cooler and the street food scene is abuzz.

Nearest metro stations: Kampung Baru LRT Station on Kelana Jaya Line and Raja Uda MRT Station on Putrajaya Line.

Dinner at Jalan Alor Food Street

For dinner on Day 2 of your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary, head to Jalan Alor Food Street, one of the world’s busiest food streets. It is a 500-metre-long road in Bukit Bintang, one of KL’s main commercial and entertainment districts, with shopping malls, restaurants, cafes, and bars. Come evening, Jalan Alor turns into a brightly lit food street, busy with food stalls and restaurants across local Malay, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and other cuisines.

kuala lumpur 3 day itinerary jalan alor
Jalan Alor spoils you for choices!

Wong Ah Wah is known for its barbecue chicken wings and frog legs, while Sai Woo should be your go-to stop for seafood, and head to Uncle Pan Mee for their famous noodle soup. Other must-try foods in Jalan Alor are Hokkien noodles, dim sums, oyster eggs, and desserts like coconut ice cream.

Food vendors at Jalan Alor Food Street typically begin setting up their stalls around 5 pm and stay till midnight. You can easily spend 2-3 hours walking around here and trying some of the best Kuala Lumpur street food, or dine at a restaurant if that’s more your style. Make sure to carry cash, as many places do not accept cards.

Nearest metro station: Bukit Bintang Station on MRT Kajang Line and KL Monorail.

Day 3 of Kuala Lumpur 3 Day Itinerary

Batu Caves

Begin the last day of your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary with an early morning visit to the iconic Batu Caves. Located 13 kilometres north, Batu Caves is one of the best things to do in the Kuala Lumpur itinerary. It is a series of limestone caves, Instagram-famous for the rainbow-colours set of 272 steps leading up to the cave, foregrounded by a 140-foot gold statue of Lord Murugan.

kuala lumpur 3 day itinerary batu caves
The colourful stairs leading into the Batu Caves

There are three main cave temples, of which Temple Cave is the largest and most important one. You should also visit Ramayana Cave, which depicts scenes from the eponymous Hindu mythological epic. There’s also a Hanuman Temple here, featuring a 50-foot-high statue of the resident god. Meanwhile, Dark Cave is the longest cave at 2 kilometres, though you are only allowed to explore the first 450 metres. On the way back, visit the Museum Cave and Art Gallery located at the foot of the hill.

You can pick up one of the audio tours available. Also, make sure your shoulders and knees are covered (you can rent shawls here to cover up). You should also watch out for monkeys and long-tailed macaques, and hide away any food items.

Opening hours: Daily from 7 am to 9 pm

Nearest metro station: Batu Caves Komuter station. You can catch the KTM Komuter train from KL Sentral station.

Day Trip to Sekinchan Rice Fields

From Batu Caves, you can rent a car or book a Grab taxi to Sekinchan, a small town on the west coast of Malaysia, around 1.5 to 2 hours away. It is one of Malaysia’s major rice-producing regions, and rightfully known as the ‘Rice Bowl of Selangor’. The main attraction in Sekinchan is the rice fields, which turn into a lush green carpet of green, and consequently golden, as it progresses through the harvest season.

kuala lumpur 3 day itinerary sekinchan
A tiny patch of leftover pre-harvest rice!

The best time to visit Sekinchan Rice Fields is from March to May and September to November, when the rice is fully grown and at its greenest, right before harvest. Remember this for your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary because when I visited, all I got were post-harvest brown fields with no photo ops! You can rent bicycles and ride along the paths surrounding the rice fields. You can also stop by the rice factory and the Paddy Gallery for a guided tour of the factory, where they take you through the rice production process.

The Sekinchan Rice Fields make for a beautiful photo stop, and a great day trip to add to your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary if you are visiting during harvest season.

Lunch at River View Seafood Restaurant, Kuala Selangor

Next, it’s time to head back to Kuala Lumpur, but first, stop by at River View Seafood Restaurant for lunch. My host took me here, and it is a bit of a local’s hidden gems and very well worth a try! It is located 30 minutes south of Sekinchan Rice Fields, in Kuala Selangor, along the Selangor River in Pasir Penambang. This place is known for its extensive seafood menu with breezy riverside seating and water views.

kuala lumpur 3 day itinerary seafood
Best seafood I had in Malaysia!

Lala Mee Hoon, a clam and rice vermicelli dish, was my choice, paired with their coconut tom yum prawns. There is also the chilli bamboo clams, salted soft shell crabs, fried squids, mantis prawns, and a whole lot of other seafood options. Portion sizes are decent, while service is quick and well organised, making it an ideal food stop to add to your KL 3 days itinerary.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from 11 am to 8 pm; Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 9 pm; closed on Mondays.

Thean Hou Temple

Post lunch, drive 1 hour 15 minutes back to Kuala Lumpur and head to Thean Hou Temple atop Robson Hill for the last stop on your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary. Built in 1989 by the local Hainanese community, the six-tiered Chinese temple is an architectural symbol of religious syncretism across Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism.

The main altar at the temple is devoted to the worship of Guan Yun, the Goddess of Mercy, Mazu, the Chinese Sea Goddess, and Shui Wei Sheng Niang, the Waterfront Goddess. The temple premises abound in sweeping roofs, dragon motifs, and glowing red lanterns in the evening, making it one of the most beautiful places to visit in Kuala Lumpur.

Walk around the Zodiac Garden featuring statues of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals, and make a wish with a red ribbon at the Wishing Tree. Perched atop a hill, the temple premises also treat you to a sweeping view of the city’s skyline. If you are in KL during important Chinese festivals like New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, or Wesak Day, you should add Thean Hou Temple to your Kuala Lumpur itinerary to take part in the celebrations.

Opening hours: Daily, 8 am to 8 pm

Nearest metro station: Bangsar LRT Station on Kelana Jaya Line.

Dinner at Nasi Ayam Hainan Chee Meng (Bukit Bintang)

To wrap up your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary, head back to the city centre for dinner at Nasi Ayam Hainan Chee Meng in Bukit Bintang. Known for their Hainanese dishes, this eatery was started in 1965 by Yeok Kai Seng. Since then, they have expanded into three outlets across the Klang Valley and have earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand title every year consecutively since 2023.

kuala lumpur 3 day itinerary Nasi Ayam
My favourite Malaysian dish!

It is a no-frills establishment revered by locals. I had my first ever nasi ayam here and it quickly became my go-to Malaysian dish. Other must-try options include the steamed Hainanese chicken rice. Choose from their range of sides like salted squid eggs, honey chicken, Kung Pao chicken, fried wontons, oyster-sauce kangkung (water spinach), and mango salad, among others.

The dishes are priced between RM 13-40 ($3 to $9.5). Peak dinner time starts around 7 pm, so try and arrive before that to secure a table. Post dinner, you can walk around Bukit Bintang and get drinks or dessert before calling it a night.

Opening hours: Daily, from 11 am to 8:30 pm (Monday-Thursday) and 11:30 am to 9:30 pm (Friday-Sunday)

Nearest metro station: Bukit Bintang MRT Station on Kajang Line.

Kuala Lumpur Itinerary: If You Have More Than 3 Days

Genting Highlands Day Trip

Located an easy hour’s drive from KL, Genting Highlands is one of the best day trips from Kuala Lumpur if you have an extra day to add to your 3 days Kuala Lumpur itinerary. This hill station in Pahang is known for its luxury hotels, amusement and water parks, shopping complexes, and vibrant nightlife scene.

Resorts World Genting is one of the main attractions in Genting Highlands, housing a theme park, shopping malls, restaurants and other dining options, a cable car service, and a casino, making it mainland Malaysia’s only legal gambling destination. Some of the other places to visit in Genting Highlands include Awana Horse Ranch, Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm, Happy Bee Farm and Insect World.

Indian Food at Brickfields

Nestled between Bangsar and Robson Hills is Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur’s own Little India. The neighbourhood has been home to Malaysia’s Indian — especially Tamil community — since the 18th century. If you are craving familiar flavours and a taste of home in Kuala Lumpur, come to Brickfields, the city’s main hotspot for Indian cuisine.

The classic roti and curry at Brickfields

Some of the most popular food joints in Brickfields are Lawanya Food Corner for home-style meals, MTR for South Indian dishes, Dindigul Thalappakatti for biryani, and Yarl for the best Sri Lankan Jaffna-style rice and curry.

Broga Hill Sunrise Hike

You can also do the Broga Hill sunrise hike if you have extra days to add to your Kuala Lumpur 3 day itinerary. It is located just 40 kilometres southeast of KL in Semenyih, and is one of the best nature escapes near the city. The hike is roughly 3.5 kilometres round-trip and takes around 40 minutes uphill. At the summit, you’ll be welcomed to rolling hills and sweeping views of the plains. The climb down is an easy 20-30 minute hike. Start your hike by 5 am to make it in time for sunrise, though you may have to alter this based on the season and sunrise timings.

Kanching Waterfall Hike

Just 30 minutes north of Kuala Lumpur, head to Kanching Waterfall in Rawang for a hike, swim, and picnic. The 120-metre waterfall flows over seven cascading tiers and is located within a lush forest reserve. You can reach the lower levels of Kanching Waterfall after an hour’s hike via well-laid-out steps. This trail comes with changing facilities and picnic gazebos. There’s a more challenging route to access the upper level of the waterfall, taking you through a steep rocky path with rope sections. You can take a refreshing dip in the pool at the waterfall’s base and spend a day in nature right outside the capital city.
