Water Therapy and Whatnot at Thavorn Beach Village, Phuket
My stint in Phuket was rather rushed and had a mission – to attend the TBEX travel creator’s conference. But with the back-to-back workshops, tours and networking sessions I had spread over 5 days with 12 to 14-hour days every day, I needed a place where I could unwind without worry – and there could not have been a better saviour than the Thavorn Beach Village Resort on the private Nakalay Beach in Kamala, Phuket.

Thavorn Beach Village, Kamala – Location
It is now common knowledge that I draw a lot of energy from water bodies – the ocean in specific. When tired or at unease, I have found water to be my truest companion and healer. So in between the madness that the TBEX meetings and post-workshop parties were, I found my downtime in the fact that Thavorn Beach Village is located on its very own private beach where I could decompress with a morning swim, or a stroll down the beach before going to bed.
While the resort is technically located in the Kamala district, what I love is that Thavorn Beach Village is set between Kamala Beach and Patong Beach. So you can get the best of both worlds – the hip restaurants and beachside shacks of Kamala Beach and the bustling market, happening bars and cannabis dispensaries of Patong Beach – all the while having your own private oasis to come back to.
Lastly, while the actual resort is located further down from the main road to reach the beach, a 5 minutes walk will get you to the main road which falls on the Phuket Smart City Bus route, and tuk-tuks and taxis are also easy to catch.
The Room: Lagoon Pool Access
So in case the private Nakalay Beach at Thavorn Beach Village Resort is not enough water to indulge in, the hotel set me up in their Lagoon Pool Access room which comes with a bathtub. I would begin my days by getting out of bed, stepping out on my balcony and using my private access to their lagoon pool to take a cold dip and awaken myself. The pool is more like a lagoon surrounded by tropical trees that snakes throughout the resort. There’s nothing more refreshing than taking a swim along their lagoon pool amidst a bright open sky and palms to keep you company. In fact, this quickly became one of my favourite things to do in Phuket… yes all of Phuket!
The room also comes with a darling beach bag with two towels in it for the guest’s use during their stay. It’s a traditional Thai bag which is mostly found in the southern province of Phatthalung made by weaving together Krajood or the saltmarsh bulrsuh plant. And if you like it so, these bags can also be purchased from the hotel front desk for 1300 Thai Baht!
And before I would call it a night, I would run myself a nice hot bath and help myself to a glass of wine from the room’s minibar to put me in a good night’s sleep, ready to do it all over again the next day!
Little Steps to a Sustainable Future
No luxury is luxury enough if it isn’t responsible luxury. And I was very pleased to find Thavorn Beach Village doing it’s bit towards more conscious hospitality. They had a separate “No housekeeping” tag to put on your door to refuse housecleaning when not needed. This saves a lot of energy on washing laundry when it is not needed. What’s even better is that the hotel gives you a 150 Thai Baht voucher redeemable on F&B services within the hotel if you make use of this tag. How cool is that!
They also have little signboards in the room asking guests to dry out and reuse their towels when possible instead of putting them for laundry and asking for fresh ones every single day. Another tiny step towards conserving energy. Yet another signboard says the resort welcomes the geckos that might mischievously slip into your rooms as they are a part of the natural ecosystem on the island and help keeping pests away without doing you any harm. I’m here for it!
But the one thing I wish they did was not keep single-use plastic bottles and instead have refillable glass bottles for drinking water in the rooms. It’s a small step towards producing less waste and reducing your plastic consumption!
Thavorn Beach Village: Experiences and Amenities
Speaking of their lagoon pool, in case a mere swim does not cut it out for you, you can also help yourself to their paddleboard and float along the lagoon while working on maintaining that balance throughout. And since your paddleboarding session is complete, a drink at their Crocodile Pool Bar never hurt anybody!
But the most lucrative bit for me about the Thavorn Beach Village is that it is a dive resort. So not only do you get unmatched affordable luxury, but you can also treat yourself to the best diving in Phuket here at their Nakalay House Reef dive site. They provide equipment rental, trained instructors and everything else you’d need to go scuba diving. Whether it is a Discover Scuba Dive you do, a full-fledged scuba diving course, or a fun dive for certified divers – Thavorn Beach Village has you covered.
Imagine this: you get back from an early morning dive with Thavorn Beach Village and come back to have a MASSIVE breakfast spread waiting for you. When I say massive, I mean it. There are items on there breakfast menu I have never seen before, nor know the names of but devoured in a second. From traditional Thai breakfast dishes like noodle soup and steamed dumplings to continental dishes like fried eggs, sausages, danishes, fresh crispy buttery croissants, a gazzilion types of bread, muesli, cereal, shakes, smoothies, cut fruits, juices…you name it, they have it. I have truly never had a better breakfast before.
And if you’re up to learning new things, there are plenty of classes to choose from at Thavorn Beach Village. They have Muay Thai classes (a traditional Thai combat sport), Thai cooking classes, Batik painting class, yoga sessions and a lot more.
To end it all with, you can also spend a few hours unwinding at their in-house Chann Welness Spa offering a host of services such as a traditional Thai massage, foot reflexology, Luk Pra Kob (traditional Thai herbal therapy), and so much more.
Final Thoughts
If I were you, I wouldn’t think twice before booking my stay at Thavorn Beach Village. It is the perfect place to come with your partner – to enjoy a romantic getaway on the private Nakalay Beach with all that the resort has to offer. It is also a welcoming hotel for solo travellers like myself – especially if you’re big on water activities like scuba diving, kayaking, paddleboarding etc. But if you’re a big group or a family with children, I’d suggest you book the other Thavorn resort – the Thavorn Palm Beach Resort!
We love transparency! My stay at Thavorn Beach Village was sponsored by Thavorn Hotels. But my views cannot be bought and are fully my own!
