In simple words, Sukoon Baag is hands down one of the most luxurious and best places to stay in Bir Billing – provided you have some money to shell out. This Airbnb Bir Billing boasts three cottages with attached kitchens. The kitchens at Sukoon Baag are well stocked with all the utensils, spices and condiments you will need for cooking during your stay here.

The decor is tastefully done, with wooden panels in the cottage, a cosy living room and a fancy shower space to name a few of my favourite things here, making it one of the best places to stay in Bir, Himachal.

The name Sukoon Baag fits so aptly with the place. Located in Laher village, this is one of the best hotels in Bir with a massive garden area as well as an orchard and a farm where they plant most seasonal vegetables for guests to use during their stay. This place truly takes farm to table to a very literal meaning, and also has some of the best cottages in Bir! If you’re looking to spend your time away from the hustle-bustle of Bir, in a neighbouring village with natural beauty all around, Sukoon Baag is definitely the place to be!

The Hobbit House, Chaugan

The Hobbit House in Bir is a concept home that feels like it is straight out of Lord of the Rings, making it one of the best places to stay in Bir Billing.

The house is very well constructed, made of stone with the typical Hobbit circular front door, surrounded by gorgeous views and modern amenities. The property offers a shared kitchen with a microwave and a stove, free wifi and easy parking. Breakfast is also included in your stay.

Griffon’s Cafe and Stay, Billing

While not technically in Bir itself, this property in Billing still makes it to the “best places to stay in Bir Billing” list because it has all my heart.

This is a local, Himachali run property made in the traditional Himachali stone architecture. Some of the co-founders are also paragliding pilots who can sort you out for paragliding in Bir Billing.

Located just a few meters away from the paragliding take off site, this is one of the best Bir Billing hotels with stunning mountain views. But be ware, though it is only 15 kilometres from main Bir, it can get quite chilly and windy if you stay in Billing, even in summer so be prepared!

The property has a massive garden space where they can even pitch tents for you if you’re looking to camp in Bir Billing. There is also a bonfire place and free mountain views!

The Attic Library

The Attic Library tops the list of best places to stay in Bir Billing for its serenity alone.

This Airbnb in Bir Billing is a traditionally built Himachali house featuring an outdoor kitchen and dining area. There is an attic which has been transformed into a quiet library with a sunroof, holding an exciting book collection.

The bedroom has an attached washroom and there is also a porch with a sit-out. The location is very beautiful, in the village where cows can be heard mooing and roosters crowing, but no vehicles passing by!

If going on long walks, cooking your own meals in peace and unwinding at a quaint cottage are your preferred things to do in Bir Billing, Attic Library is the place to go!

TLO (The Life Outdoor) Hostel

TLO Hostel is a luxurious hostel property featuring a garden, a shared lounge, a terrace and a cafe on-site. Its astounding views make it one of the best places to stay in Bir Billing.

They have a four bed mixed dormitory and three private rooms with attached bathrooms. Some rooms even have astounding views of the mountains through the private balcony.

Breakfast is not included in your stay but the cafe has a lot of options including parathas, shakes, eggs, sandwiches and more. The views of the famous Bir sunsets here are also like no other.

I stayed here in the summer of 2023 in the dorm room and was blown away by the cleanliness. In my books, this really is the best place to stay in Bir!

The Lumi, Suja

The Lumi is a gorgeous hostel with a garden, a common lounge, a terrace and an in-house restaurant.

They have two dorm rooms and two private rooms featuring views of the mountain and the famous Bir sunset too. This affordable backpackers hostel is definitely one of the best places to stay in Bir Billing.

Guests are offered a filling ala carte breakfast every morning and 24-hour room service. The property has free wifi and easy bike rental services.

The Trippy Tribe Extended, Chougan

There are two Trippy Tribe Hostels in Bir. But I talk about the “Extended” or version 2 on this “the best places to stay in Bir Billing” list because I find the location of this one much better.

It is far enough from the main market to be away from the noise, but also close enough to be accessible by a short 15 minute walk downhill.

A great alternative to the overly popular and more expensive Zostel, Trippy Tribe Extended offers comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, and in some, a nice balcony offering a view of the mountains. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Most popular cafes of Bir are also within a one-kilometre radius.

There is also a shared lounge, a games corner (table tennis) and free wifi that runs through the property.

Flashpackers Hostel

Flashpackers Bir is an affordable and comfortable hostel, offering 360-degree views of the surrounding area: the snowcapped Dhauladhar mountains on one side and the endless meadows on the other. This definitely makes it one of the best places to stay in Bir Billing.

The hostel has ample common spaces including a common balcony for sunset viewing and a shared indoor common area. They have three dorm rooms and two private rooms with attached bathrooms to choose from.

The Garden Home is fittingly named. It is indeed an independent house in tranquillity featuring two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and one bathroom, making it one of the best places to stay in Bir Billing.

This homestay in Bir Billing has a living room with a flat-screen TV and an attached garden with parking. The rooms are cosy and chic and a washing machine is also available in the house. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, stove etc.

The property is surrounded by paddy fields and stunning mountains. The surrounding farms provide fresh vegetables. However, there is no wifi here and excessive noise is discouraged. The property is ideal for families with kids.

This is one of the oldest homestays in Bir Billing. Mohinder and Mohindra Homestay is located in a village called Lambahar, just a few meters down the lane that goes by Manoj Homestay.

This Bir Billing homestay has a beautiful open terrace with stunning views and a few rooms with attached kitchens and bathrooms – so they’re almost always all occupied. But it never hurts to give it a shot, yeah!? It is a beautiful homestay with kitchen in Bir – a great alternative to a house on rent in Bir Billing!

Puri Homestay is again located in Lambahar village, close to Mohinder and Mohindra Homestay. Manoj Homestay is located right at the main market and is a very popular landmark in itself – everyone knows of it. This Bir Billing homestay has about 3 rooms with attached kitchen and bathrooms of varying sizes (prices). If you’re someone who doesn’t mind the rush of the main market and would rather stay close to the action, this is the place for you. It is definitely one of the best places to stay in Bir Billing. But remember – with its central location, the prices at Manoj Homestay are a bit inflated too, as compared to the others.

Arun Homestay, Chougan

This is where I stayed starting in June until October. Arun Homestay has four rooms with a fully functional attached kitchen in each. The rooms also come with a cupboard, a table and two chairs. The kitchen has literally everything you could need – gas, stove, pressure cooker, wok (kadhai), tawa, spoons, plates, glasses, cups…you get the gist. If I’m being honest, the sole reason why I rented out this place was for the kitchen itself. It was love at first sight, making it one of the best places to stay in Bir Billing! Instead of finding a house on rent in Bir Billing, I decided to live here. It is definitely my favourite homestay with kitchen in Bir. The place also has a beautiful garden and an open terrace with a 270 -degree view of the mountains which makes for a beautiful location for some sunrise yoga!

Maharaja Homestay, Chougan

Located on the Zostel 2.0 lane, Maharaja Homestay is one of the best homestays in Bir Billing. It is last on the list because while the location is superb and the rooms spacious and big, with not a very high rental cost – they don’t have attached kitchens. Instead, this Bir Billing homestay comes with a common shared kitchen that can be used by all guests. That’s not too bad a deal especially if you’re not going to be cooking very often. Sharing a kitchen with others also makes for a great ice breaker and is a good opportunity to connect and exchange ideas – especially if you’re travelling solo and looking for company – making it one of the best places to stay in Bir Billing for sure!
