My name is Avantika Chaturvedi. I am a 20 years old third year literature student living in New Delhi. My alter ego is a budget backpacker travelling across India. Currently on a 12 months, 12 destinations mission, I love climbing mountains, writing about my experiences, and have developed an affinity for photography.
The idea of Wayward Wayfarer came into being when I was trying to find a domain name for a travel blog, for a freelance project I had taken up. When ‘journeyjitters’ wasn’t available, I started looking for other travel related alliterations. Somehow when I stumbled upon wayward– meaning ‘difficult to control; insistent upon having one’s own way; headstrong’, and wayfarer– meaning ‘a person who travels on foot’, it was a eureka moment for me. These two words fit so perfectly for me, I thought to myself, “this is it!” And, as they say, the rest is history! I usually travel solo, or with a friend or two. Travelling in groups with a fixed itinerary is just not for me. I prefer going to a destination without a set plan, and explore lesser known trails, going with the flow.
I am an experienced content writer and editor, having lead the content team of about 50 global interns with Eat My News. I have also worked as an Associate Editor with D.Youth, Delhi University’s first ever students’ magazine. For a year, I practiced photography on my OnePlus mobile phone, and even shot my first ever Milky Way photograph from it! I have now switched to a DSLR. All my work is available on my Instagram. Alternatively, you can also find my work on my Facebook page.
